TRAVELOGUE

Traveling isn’t just about seeing new sights—it’s about diving headfirst    into different cultures, trying bizarre foods, and getting lost in places I    never expected. Each adventure has taught me to stay curious, embrace    change, and see the world through countless lenses—fueling the    inspiration behind the unique projects I create.

Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too.  Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.

- Terry Pratchett

Travel as Inquiry

I’ve always been drawn to the themes of human geography, mobility, the Chinese diaspora, and cultural syncretism—not just as academic ideas, but as deeply human stories. For me, travel is never about ticking boxes or collecting photos. It’s about being present in a place, noticing subtle patterns, asking thoughtful questions, and staying open to whatever a place or person has to teach me. These are experiences I feel rather than share publicly, and that choice has always felt important to me.

I’m a private person—not in a closed-off way, but in the sense that I believe some things are more meaningful when they’re lived quietly. In a time when so much is documented and performed, I choose to stay grounded and intentional. That approach carries into my educational work. I think it’s one of the reasons why students and educators feel safe around me—because they know I’m listening for meaning, not moments.

Whether I’m mentoring teachers, co-designing curriculum, or facilitating student inquiry, I work hard to create learning spaces where people feel they can ask big questions, explore identity, and share openly—without fear of judgment or being “put on display.” I want learning to feel authentic, human, and safe.
